tied down

as you tied my tie and pushed me on,
towards another day, another dawn,
i felt love in places
where i once felt it didn’t belong;
now looking back, i saw your eyes and all light careening
between the screening of the drapes,
towards what i now take as a sign
to remind myself to never again escape,
but rather to find and then heal
all i can ever deal with in this world,
that too often is like a child,
and willed to be too wild.
